About our team

Birth Option Services is a team of two women, the first being Del Balgas, a California and Arizona licensed midwife who has attended thousands of births and has been licensed for many years. From an early age, she was intrigued by pregnancy and birth. She remembers thinking how beautiful pregnancy was and always found birth awe-inspiring. It isn't surprising she went on to have ten children. She learned so much from each pregnancy and birth. Sometimes, she thinks even more than from her formal midwifery training.   

The other woman making the team of two is Gail Barela, who will be a California-licensed midwife in early 2024. Gail teaches the Bradley Method childbirth education series along with her husband. She gave birth to five children and has attended over three hundred births.
